5th African Symposium on Big Data, Analytics and Machine Intelligence 2025

The 5th African Symposium on Big Data, Analytics and Machine Intelligence will take place in hybrid format from June 18–20, 2026, at Akure, Nigeria. The symposium is a joint initiative of the Federal University of Technology, Akure and the University of South Dakota AI Research. Held alongside the 18th TYAN International Thematic Workshop and a Pre-Symposium Youth Coding and Ethical AI Workshop, the event will feature keynote, plenary, and panel sessions by leading global experts.

Theme: Data-Driven AI for Sustainable Impact: From Research to Real-World Solutions in the Global South — focusing on healthcare, climate action, smart cities, agriculture, education, digital inclusion, and responsible AI through research, innovation, and international collaboration.

4th African Symposium on Big Data, Analytics and Machine Intelligence 2025

The 4th African Symposium on Big Data, Analytics and Machine Intelligence was held in hybrid mode from June 17–20, 2025, at the Federal University of Technology, Akure. It was held alongside the 18th TYAN International Thematic Workshop and N-SLP Workshop. The event featured keynote, plenary, and panel sessions by globally renowned experts, focusing on sustainable development, healthcare, gender equity, and responsible AI through data-driven research and international collaboration.

3rd African Symposium on Big Data, Analytics and Machine Intelligence 2024

The 3rd African Symposium On Big Data, Analytics And Machine Intelligence was themed “Open Data Science and Artificial Intelligence for Healthcare”. It was held in hybrid mode (virtual and physical) in Federal University of Technology, Akure on June 24 and 25, 2024. The Symposium was made up of Keynote, Plenary and invited Sessions by renowned and Senior Scientists from all over the world.

The 2nd Symposium held on 3rd & 4th December, 2020 was themed On Big Data, Analytics And Machine Intelligence was themed “Data Science for Solution-driven and Sustainable Response to current developing world challenges”. It provided a platform to increase knowledge in Data Science with focus on Big Data, Analytics and
Artificial Intelligence and to explore how these technologies have addressed impact of and response to COVID-19, alongside with provision of sustainable solutions, while building multidisciplinary and
international collaborations

1st African Symposium on Big Data, Analytics and Machine Intelligence 2019

1st African Symposium took place from June 10 to 14, 2019, at the Federal University of Technology, Akure in Ondo State, Nigeria. Centered on the theme “Big Data, Analytics and Machine Intelligence for Financial, Health and Environmental Inclusion in Developing Countries,” the event brought together researchers, industry experts, and policymakers to explore how emerging data-driven technologies could address critical development challenges. In alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, the symposium aimed to foster collaborative strategies and partnerships that leveraged innovative tools for economic growth, improved healthcare, and environmental sustainability across Africa and other developing regions.
